Smell burning? Afraid your GPU/graphics card, CPU, or hard drives are running too hot? Fortunately there's an easy way to check. It's called PC Wizard Just download it and install or extract it, then run it. On the left sidebar, there's a button that looks like a speedometer with a - and + sign. Click it. It will display the voltages of your CPU that you probably don't need to worry about, the speed your fans are running, and the temperatures of your motherboard, GPU and hard drives (if they support it).
Your GPU (graphics processing unit, aka graphics card, usually made by NVIDIA or ATI) can get up to 75 C (167 F), but should run at no more than 65 C when you aren't running any programs. Recommended is less than 60. If it gets hotter than 75, shut your PC down and let it cool off! Consider installing a new fan or other cooling device. Your local computer shop can help you with this, or ask your geek friend to install one for you; it shouldn't be very difficult for him.
Hard disks/drives (HDD for short) should operate at a maximum of 55 C. If it exceeds that, you can potentially lose all your data on the hard drive, as well as the hard drive itself. Again, if it gets hotter than this, save your data, and turn off your computer immediately!
That's all for now. Hope you enjoyed this article!
